Art Journal Page - Gel Print BG Butterflies

Image
Hello Everyone! I have a very colorful project to share today. This is a journal page I've created using a gel printed background and then pimped using different techniques to add more depth and dimension. This was part of my Art Journal class at the Whimsy Retreat back in May. My gel print pages are inspired by Kate Crane . I love her style and love to watch her mixed media and gel print videos.  As you can see I used lots of different Whimsy products on this journal page. I have my gel printed background as a base and then I start adding texture with different stamps and stencils. I tend to use white first if the background is very colorful like this one to break it up a bit. I also use ink in the same colors I used already for my background to stamp. To make it even more pop I added black stamped numbers, circles and stripes. Finally I do some detailing using black and white pens. To add a focal point I've added butterflies and part of a die cut b

Mermaid Tails - More PaperDoor Inspiration

Happy Friday-Eve! - LOL My friend Alanna said that to me recently and I absolutely love the idea to call Thursday 'Friday-Eve'. Sounds like weekend already, doesn't it?  Here I am again with my last PaperDoor creation for this month. I am so in love with this months kit. I always loved mermaids and this kit is perfection for all of us mermaid lovers! The gorgeous mermaid clear stamp set, the bubbles BG stamp and then this mermaid tails stamp - just beautiful. The latter is what I used on my card for today. I created a watercolor BG with ZIG Clean Color Brush Pens and water. Sprinkled on some black and silver ink and stamped bubbles and mermaid tails on my BG. The sentiment was heat embossed with metallic embossing powder. The frame was created using Whimsy's Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles.  If you haven't ordered your June  PaperDoor   kit yet you really need to hurry. There are not too many kits left and they will sell out soon! Don&

🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜 Happy Sunday Everyone! Hope your weekend has been wonderful so far. I had a wonderful relaxing Saturday yesterday and was able to be at my studio for a few hours to create this fun shaker card with one of Whimsy's newly released clear stamp seta called 'Ants at a Picnic'   by Dustin Pike. Look at those adorable smooshy faces 😍  Usually I am not very fond of ants  🐜  -yikes- but I would love to have these guys in my yard 😊 To create the blue and red backgrounds I sponged distress oxide inks ( chipped sapphire , b roken china , f estive berries , worn lipstick) onto mixed media paper using an ink blending tool. I added white and metallic pink ink sprinkles to the blue background and sprinkled some water and white ink onto the red background. I colored using Faber Castell Albrecht DΓΌrer watercolor pencils and my images were stamped onto mixed media paper with hybrid ink. Sometimes if I am not sure what medium I want t
