Octopi Guy Challenge

Hello there! Ok, so here is yet another one with the adorable Octopi Guys. I know, I know, it's the third card in a row showing off the sweet octopus but I can't help it ๐Ÿ˜Ž I love them so much ๐Ÿ’œ

My friends Alanna, Faye and I are doing a mini challenge again. This time we are all playing with the Octopi Guys....obviously....LOL. We all use different coloring mediums. Alanna is using Copics, Faye pencils and I used watercolors.

Please visit their blogs to see both of their fantastic creations:

Here is what I came up with using Karin markers to color my Octopi Guy

I decided to do a slimline shaker card. I used the Connected Bubbles die and NEW Slimline Under the Sea papers to create my background with the shaker element. I die cut the Connected Bubbles several times from white cardstock and once from glitter paper. I stacked them with the glitter version on top. This gives more dimension. I then made the largest bubble in the center a shaker element. I filled it with Sprinkletz Fish Tank. I glued some of the tiny fishes to the background of the shaker. This way they wont fall all down when the card is held upright.

Here is a close-up on the shaker element and the octopus. I also used some of the Octo-Elements  to decorate and bring everything together.

To color my Octopi Guy I used Karin Brushmarkers Pro. I stamped with Versamark Clair Nocturne ink - my favorite ink when I do watercoloring - onto Grumbacher 140lbs. watercolor paper. I stamped on the smooth side. I just recently discovered that paper at Walmart. It is fairly cheap and honestly I did not expect much. To my surprise I really liked it. Especially with the Karin markers it is working very well. It holds water quite well without starting to pill right away when doing several layers. For the price this is an awesome heavy weight watercolor paper to stamp on and watercolor images.

  1. Fantastic card! I love the use of the background paper and then the bubbles to make the frame. Your watercoloring is terrific, so bright and vibrant. I also think those fish shaker bits are so fun. Excellent card! :)

  3. Wow, fantastic watercoloring and adorable and fun card... love Whimsy stamps... Colored a lot of Whimsy stamps when taking Copic classes at our local craft store, and will be attending long weekend class in Phoenix in December. Using the die you had was perfect for your sea scene and amazed with the layers you used to produce the die bubble. Your card was so creative and I am so glad I was the high bidder for this card for the Turner Syndrome Card Auction. I'm the proud recipient and haven't decided who I would send it to... maybe just frame it... thank you so much.
